Suzanne Stirke has been writing for over ten years.

When her sons went off to University, Suzanne took the opportunity to study for an MA in Creative Writing (Northumbria University). She used her dissertation to begin her first novel, No Man’s Moor and followed up with Worlds End.

From Yorkshire and thoroughly embedded in the farming world, Suzanne likes to bring an authentic view of rural life to the pages of her work. Her interest in local history adds another dimension to her work as she uncovers long forgotten tales and weaves them into her stories.

Since publishing her first two novels Suzanne has been working on a book about a Yorkshire woman, Dorothy Pattison who become a ground breaking innovative nurse in the nineteenth century. Taking the name Sister Dora she worked in Middlesbrough and Walsall where she transformed hospital care and management.

With family connections to Sister Dora, Suzanne has extensively researched her life and hopes to bring the story of Sister Dora alive to a whole new audience. While Sister Dora is still an important part of life in Walsall and the Midlands her story has been in danger of disappearing from the social consciousness. Suzanne hopes this new fictionalized account about Sister Dora can bring her story to life again.

Suzanne lives north of Bedale with her husband and two black labs. Alongside writing and her passion for agricultural and local history she enjoys gardening and spending time in Northumberland.
